Do not rely on the title
Someone may describe themselves as a master tenant, main tenant or property manager. The important question is whether the HDB rental arrangement is authorised and whether the person has a legitimate role in it.
Checks to make before paying
- Identify the flat owner.
- Ask for HDB rental approval.
- Confirm that your name will be registered as an authorised tenant.
- Check who will hold the deposit and issue receipts.
- Read the notice, termination and refund clauses.
